following biography of Halsey Charles Edgerton is excerpted from Norwich University 1819 – 1911, Her
History, Her Graduates, Her Roll of Honor (Ellis, William Arba, comp..; Montpelier, Vt.: The Capital City Press;
1911; Vol 3., pp. 405-406):
“HALSEY CHARLES EDGERTON, M.C.S.
Halsey C.
Edgerton, son of Charles Andrew and Flora Smith (Brown) Edgerton, was born in
Northfield, Vt., June 29, 1884. He prepared for college at the Northfield High
School, and entered the Civil Engineering department of the University in
September, 1902, remaining two years; was a corporal and
quartermaster-sergeant in the corps of cadets; won Sophomore medal; member Φ X Fraternity. He entered Dartmouth College
in September, 1904, graduating B.S. in 1906; was a Rufus Choate Scholar in
1906; elected to membership in Φ
B K in 1906; graduated M.C.S. from Amos Tuck School of Administration
and Finance of Dartmouth College in 1907.
In 1907, he was appointed to a position in the
Treasurer’s department of Dartmouth;
and in 1909, when the office of auditor was created he was appointed to that
position, which he still retains. He
has served as director of the Northfield National Bank since May 13, 1907. He is a member of Bezaleel
Lodge No. 100, F. and A.M. of Hanover, N. H.; St. Andrews Chapter, R.A.M.;
Washington Council, and Sullivan Commandery K.T.; Bektask Mystic Shrine; New Hampshire Consistory; Graduate
Club of Hanover; Dartmouth Club of Boston.”
