following obituary for Richard Pearl Edgerton was published in the Cass City Chronicle on Friday, May 21,
1954: “LIFELONG RESIDENT OF THUMB AREA DIES Richard Pearl Edgerton, 70, lifelong resident of the Thumb, died early Sunday in his home following a long illness. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Celia Edgerton, he was born at Allenton, St. Clair County, July 5, 1883. He is survived by his wife, the former Mrs. Iva Billings, a son Robert Edgerton, principal at Harbor Beach School whose mother was the former Miss Lillian Thomas; a half-brother, Weldon Edgerton of Titusville, Fla.; three grandchildren, four stepchildren, Mrs. Jon Snooks and Lloyd Wisner of Richmond, Mich., Mrs. Bell Berry of Tucson, Ariz., and Ray Billings of Riverside, Calif.; and seven stepgrandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Douglas
Funeral Home. Rev. S. R. Wurtz
