According to the above census record, Ruth had not had any children.  Willard’s occupation was listed as “insurance agt”.

 

Mrs. Ruth W. (Edgerton) Smith was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  A portion of her pedigree was published in the DAR Lineage Books, Volume 2, pg. 252, ID #21691.  According to the entry, Ruth was born in Bridgeport, New York and was the wife of Willard R. Smith.  The pedigree lists her parents, “Vine Bailey Edgerton and Lucinda Edgerton, his wife”, her grandparents, “Stephen Edgerton and Temperance Bailey, his wife”, and her great-grandparents, “John Edgerton and Elizabeth Edgerton, his wife”.  The listing also cites Stephen Edgerton’s service in the Connecticut militia and with the “three months’ men”.
