Saybrook Deed – Heirs of Richard Edgerton
(Saybrook Deeds, Volume 2, pg. 527) To all Christian people to whom these presents shall come Greeting Whereas our Hon’d Father Richard Edgerton late of Norwich deceased in his life time had an accomodation of Land within ye Town of SayBrook with the rest of the proprietors there. Now know ye That we Richard Edgerton Samuel Edgerton Joseph Edgerton and Joseph Renolds & Nathaniell Backus in Right of their wives Sarah and Lydia Decd all of Norwich in ye County of New London Colony of Connecticut in New England being surviving heirs to the Estate of our Hon’d Father Richard Edgerton aforesaid deceased for & in ye Consideration of a [--?--] sum to our satisfaction to us secured by John Edgerton & Joseph Edgerton of sd Norwich Grandsons to ye first above named Richard Edgerton, We the said Richard Edgerton Samll Edgerton Joseph Edgerton Joseph Renolds & Nathaniell Backus have therefore & by these presents do freely, clearly & absolutely without any other consideration give grant Bargain sell convey & confirm unto them the said John Edgerton & Joseph Edgerton to their heirs & assigns forever all our Right title & Interest of & unto all ye Lands of what [--?--] or kind soever may be which of Right are belonging unto us as we are heirs of our Hon’d Father Richard Edgerton his estate within the township of SayBrook In ye County of New London aforesd with all the appurtenances and privelleges thereunto belonging or to any part thereof in anywise appertaining to them the said John Edgerton & Joseph Edgerton to their heirs & assigns forever, To Have and to Hold use occupie possess & Injoy to them & their onely proper use benefitt and behoof forever more without any manner of let hinderance or molestion, from us either of us our heirs or allies of us our Respective heirs or either of them or any person or persons under us or them.
