William Henry Edgerton was born at Cabot, Vermont in the year 1814, the second son of Asa Edgerton and his first wife, Dorcas Kimball. Details on William’s life are few. He was raised in Cabot, Vermont, where his father was listed as a head of household in the Federal Censuses of 1810, 1820, 1830 and 1840.

William Henry Edgerton attended the University of Vermont. The following entry is found in the General catalogue of the University of Vermont and State Agricultural College, Burlington, Vermont, 1791-1900 (Burlington Free Press Association: Burlington, Vermont; 1901; pg. 60):

“William Henry Edgerton, b Cabot 1814; d there of consumption 25 July 1834; son of Asa Edgerton”

William Henry Edgerton was buried at Cabot Village Cemetery in Cabot Vermont. His gravestone there records his death, “aged 20 years”. William’s mother, Dorcas (Kimball) Edgerton, who died two years later, was buried next to him at Cabot Village Cemetery.
