Distribution of the Estate of Zebulon Edgerton I
Pursuant to order of the Court of Probate for the District of Norwich, State of Connecticut we the subscribers, freeholders of the Town of Franklin being appointed to make a partition of the real and personal estate of Zebulon Edgerton late of Franklin deceased setting off the widow’s third and then dividing the whole equally between the heirs of said estate being first sworn to said service made the partition as follows (viz.) The widow’s third contains three acres and about 137 rods lying in two pieces the largest piece contains two acres [and] about one hundred and thirty seven rods with the back or west part of the house and a barn standing thereon and bounded as follows Beginning by Lee Armstrong’s land sixteen rods from the southwesterly corner of the aforesaid Zebulon Edgerton Deceased’s land thence running by said Armstrong’s land South 73½o East fifteen rods thence running North 39½o East four rods fifteen links thence running North 72½o West until it comes about middleway of the south end of the house thence running into the house by the partition between front room and back room keeping by the partition untill it comes near the jamb stones of the bedroom fireplace thence running East two feet into the chimney thence running North 39½o East through the chimney and on till comes to the north side of the land set out to Elizabeth being about one and [a] half rods thence running South 71½o East about two rods thence running North 39½o East about seventy seven rods to Zebulon Edgerton’s land and thence running by said Edgerton’s land North 65o West twelve rods thence running South 43o West thirty eight rods to the first mentioned corner. The other piece contains one acre bounded as follows Beginning at the southeasterly corner of said Deceased’s land thence running North 23½o East twenty six and [a] half rods thence running North 64o West five rods twenty three links. Personal Estate set out to the widow One featherbed bolster and two pillars underbed bedspread and cone One feather bed and one pillar one covered bedspread and cone One cone one two year old heifer one bovine and a number of articles to the amount of one third Allowing the widow the privilege of passing and repassing through the other part of the house to go to the chamber and cellar and also a joint privilege in the oven. Set out to the heirs first to Silence two acres and eleven rods of land bounded as follows Beginning by the aforesaid Armstrong’s land at the southwesterly corner of said lot thence running South 73½o East seventy eight rods seven links thence running north 23½o East four rods thence running North 72½o West seventy six and [a] half rods thence running South 41¼o West five rods to the first mentioned corner. Articles of moveables one strait body cast one jacket cloth for a pair of trousers one pair yarn stockings and other articles to amount in the whole to £3:8:10½. Elizabeth’s part beginning at the westerly corner of Silence’s lot thence running by said lot South 72½o East seventy six and [a] half rods thence running North 23½o East three rods thence running North 71½o West seventy five rods six links thence running South 41¼o West four rods to the first mentioned corner and contains one acre and ninety seven rods of land and the house Moveables one strait body cast cloth for a pair of breaches one grindstone part of a cone and other articles to amount in the whole to £3:8:10½. Bethiah’s part contains one acre one hundred and forty rods of land bounded as follows Beginning at the westerly corner of Elizabeth’s lot thence running by Elizabeth’s lot South 71½o East seventy five rods and six links thence running North 23½o East three and [a] half rods thence running North 71o West seventy three rods and twelve links thence running South 41¼o West five rods to the first mentioned corner containing two thirds of the barn. Moveables one case of drawers one iron sash one frame and other articles to the amount of £3:8:10½. Asenath’s part contains one acre and one hundred fifty six rods of land and one third part of the barn the land is bounded as follows Beginning at westerly corner of Bethiah’s lot from thence running by said lot South 71o East seventry three rods and twelve links thence running North 23½o East three and [a] half rods thence running North 69½o West seventy one rods and twenty links thence running South 41½o West five rods and twelve links to the first mentioned corner. Moveables valance and curtains one table cloth one 40 [----] one churn one milk tray five chairs and other articles to the amount of £3:8:10½. Margaret’s part contains two acres and forty rods of land bounded as follows Beginning at the westerly corner of Asenath’s lot thence running by said lot South 69½o East seventy one rods and twenty links thence running North 23½o East four rods thence running North 68¼o West sixty nine rods and sixteen links thence running south 41¼o West six rods and twelve links to the first mentioned corner. Moveables one great coat one pair breaches one pair [----] stockings one sheep and other articles to amount in the whole to £3:8:10½. Ann’s part contains two acres and fifty five rods of land bounded as follows Beginning at westerly corner of Margaret’s lot thence running by said lot South 68¼o East sixty nine rods and sixteen links thence running North 23½o East four rods thence running North 66o West sixty seven rods and six links thence running South 41¼o West seven rods and seven links to the first mentioned corner. Moveables one checkered linen shirt three sheets one pair of yoke irons one warming pan one sheep and other articles to amount in the whole to £3:8:10½. Rachel’s part contains two acres and fifty five rods of land bounded as follows Beginning at the westerly corner of Ann’s lot thence running by said lot South 66o East sixty seven rods and six links thence running North 23½o East four rods and seven links thence running North 65o West sixty five rods and eight links thence running South 41¼o West seven rods and nine links to the first mentioned corner. Moveables one checkered linen shirt one felt hat one old saddle one bridle one sheep and other articles to amount in the whole to £3:8:10½. Also allowing the privilege or liberty for the heirs to pass and repass across one another’s lots where it will be the least damage to the possessor and answer their purpose.
