Edward Walker applied for bounty land for the first
time. This application for a land warrant was filed
on one large sheet of paper but is in multiple parts.
On this fifth day of February A.D. one thousand
eight hundred and fifty one personally appeared
before me a Justice of the peace within and for
the County and state aforesaid Edward
Walker aged fifty five years a resident
of the County of Hancock in the state of Tennessee
who being duely [sic] sworn according to law declares
that he is the identical Edward
Walker who was a private in the Company
commanded by Captain
John Slatten in the fourth regiment of
Tennessee Militia commanded by Colonel
Boothe in the war with Great Britain declared
by the United States on the 18th of June 1812
that he was drafted at Wilfuls muster ground in
Hawkins County in the state of Tennessee on or
about the fifteenth of October A.D. one thousand
and eight hunderd and thirteen for the term of
six months and continued in actual service in
said war for the term of six months and was honorably
discharged at Rogersville in Hawkins County in
the state of Tennessee on or about the fifteenth
of May A.D. one thousand eight hundred and forteen
as will appear by the muster roll of said Company.
This certificate he sold to David
Deck for to enable him to draw the soldiers
pay that he was intitled [sic] to for the beforementioned
service and that he never got the certyifycate
[sic] of discharge again and that is the reason
it don't accompany this declaration
He makes this declaration for the purpose of
obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled
under the act granting bounty land to certain
officers and soldiers who have been engaged in
the military service of the United States passed
September 28th 1850

year above writen [sic] and I hereby certify that
I believe the said Edward
Walker to be the identical man who served
as afforesaid [sic] and that he is of the age
above stated

in Sneedville the 8th day of Feb 1851
