Levi's oldest son, Isaiah, and his wife, Sarah, had a large family, but they lost four sons
during the War Between the States: Alexander, Isaiah Napoleon, Andrew Jackson, and one other. Isaiah
and Sarah were married by B. Hilliard, Justice of the Peace
About Isaiah Napoleon Eiland:
Napoleon was killed during the Civil War, at the final battle of Appomattox before General Robert E.
Lee surrendered. The story is that he was killed while acting as a sniper for the Conferate army, after
Lee had already surrendered.

About Andrew Jackson Eiland:
22nd Infantry Regiment completed its organization at Montgomery, Alabama, in November, 1861, then moved
to Mobile. Its companies were raised in the counties of Walker, Clarke, Cherokee, Mobile, Pike, Choctaw,
Montgomery, Calhoun, and Randolph. The unit suffered severe losses at Shiloh under General Gladden,
then saw action in Bragg's Kentucky Campaign under General Gardner.
Andrew Jackson Eiland was
just 17 years old when he laid down his life for his country. He died from wounds sustained Mound City,
MS. He was the son of Isaiah and Sarah Caffey Eiland. Andrew was my 3rd great grand uncle. Andrew
had several brothers who also laid down their lives for the CSA. Isaiah N. Eiland died in July 1864
in Virginia and Alexander N. Eiland died in March of 1863.
