Frank homesteaded in Wilson Township, MI and continued as a farmer until
ill health forced his retirement and he moved to East Jordan. He was a
Methodist. Frank was elected Constable of Wilson Township in April 1888.

Sidney was a farmer.
Sidney, Betsey Nellie and Alice went to New York in 1869 after Frank and
George
went to Michigan with the Bowen's. It is thought that Betsey died there
about
1870 or 1871. Nellie and Alice completed their education there and taught
school there until1875 or 1876 when they came to Advance, MI with their
father.

Somequestion about the where and when of Betsey's death. She was in WI
in
1850and her last daughter Alice was born in WI in 1861. Sidney was
living
alonewith daughter Alice in MI in 1880 and married Laura Davis in 1887.
The Douglas' have been traced to upper New York state and it is thought
they
are of the line of Deacon William Douglas, son of Robert Douglas of
Scotland,
who emigrated to America in 1640. These Douglas' have been traced back to
1175.

The E. in Bill's name stood for Everett, however, he felt embarrassed by
this name. He was not officiallynamed at birth. Birth record was
officially
changed 13 Dec 1943 to E. Cuthbert Barnett.
Bill worked for Motor Wheel in Lansing between 1929 and 1930.
Hewas a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) from 193? to
1935 at
Camp Clarion, MI.
Bill worked for many years as supervisor of the East JordanGarage of the
Charlevoix County Road Commission until 1962. He was also the garage
foreman,
laying out grades for and supervising the building of new roads in
Charlevoix
County. The last road he built was near the Methodist Campat Lake
Louise.
He was an avid collector of Petoskey stones and had plans for his
retirement.
He was a member of the Jordan River Lodge of the I.O.O.F.

Afterleaving school in the eighth grade in 1912 Russell went to work for
the
American Beauty Appliance Co. in Detroit and later went to Flint to work
for a
foundry company. Around 1917 he returned to East Jordan to start his own
business in auto repair located where the corporate offices of the East
Jordan
Iron Works are now loacted. This venture was cut short when he was
drafted
into the U.S. Army in 1918. After the war he went to work for Northern
Auto
Co. in Charlevoix until about 1922 when he was offered the position of
manager
at their outlet in East Jordan. The company sold and serviced Ford motor
vehicles and he remained with them until 1942 when they closed.
Russell workedas a machinist, pattern maker and molding supervisor for
the
East Jordan Iron Works from 1942 until his retirement in 1956. He also
repaired
clocks asa hobby.
Russell was a motorcycle dispatch rider for the IX Army Corps, SecondU.S.
Army in France during the First World War. He was drafted 21 Nov. 1917
and
served first with Co. F., 337th Infantry for about four months and was
reassigned to Detachment 169 of the 369th Infantry Battalion. The
Detachment
had 22 men and motorcyclists, 4 officers, 4 horse orderlies, a cook and a
wagoner (mule driver).
