Notes and News

6/04-- The David & Elizabeth Egbert family outline,  James Delancy Egbert family outline, and the Phillip Egbert family outline, are now combined with Lawrence Egbert Family of  KY outline. So there are no outlines numbered 19, 29, or 32 at this time. If you find a name in the index referenced as one of those, it is now in 31. Hopefully it's all  been corrected.

1/05-- Due to a computer crash, 3 hurricanes coming through our area, and the stormpages webhost reverting the site to it's earliest form and not responding to any fixing, the Emtyville website has changed a bit (though it's taken awhile to recover). Emtyville had to be moved to topcities.com without inserting any notification at the old site.  The outlines have been edited, information and graphics have been added. At the moment, the index has been updated with those new family members with the Egbert surname. The spouses and children (of these new Egberts) with other surnames have yet to be added to those surnames' index.

The Francis & Melvina Egbert Family outline (20) is now incorporated into the James and Sarah Egbert Family outline (8)...  and the Fredrick Wilhelm Egbert Family (now 20), the Daniel & Louisa (Appel) Egbert Family (now 19) and the Nicholas Egbert Family of Kentucky (now 32) have been taken out of Miscellaneous Egberts (34) ...just to warn you in case I missed changing a number somewhere.

2/05-- Site updates need to be done once a month with this new location it seems.  The pages that have changed will be posted here, without listing each individual change.  In the process of adding the new information this month I did find some outline numbers that were wrong (as mentioned last month) and fixed them, there may be more.  Some Social Security Death Index information was added. There were some very interesting emails in the last month, and the information from those people has also been added...I think I still have two or three more things to do with those.

The pages which have been updated in the last month are:

Name Index E  (spouses, and those with other surnames, still need some indexing)
Barent Egbert Family (2)
Barent Egbert Family Stories

2/05 Well there were problems with the new topcities site too, the bandwidth is so small it's shut down when I work on the pages. So there won't be much happening there now...on the move again.  Hopefully the new home at Rootsweb will be a lasting one.

2/05 Added a Glossary of Words and Terms, cleaned up some of the pages with missing or faulty links, and added some names to Miscellaneous Egberts from veterans records from MO and other records.  There is a Matthew Brady photo of T. F. Egbert dated between 1860-1865.  He is now listed in Misc. Egberts but I did not add the photo.  There is no other information about it and I can't locate a T.F. Egbert in anything I have yet. To see the photo go to http://arcweb.archives.gov and in the search fields keyword Egbert, archival materials dated between 1860-1865, location of Archival Materials as Still Picture Records LICON, Special Media Archives Services Division. If you have any further information about him I'd sure like to know more.

11/06 It's been awhile since updating the site. Lots of reasons, only a small part being procrastination.
Many pages which now have been updated and (hopefully) the link to Joseph Morgan Egbert's page has been fixed.  I would list all the updated pages but it might be easier to list the ones that weren't. Sections A, B, C, and F remain unchanged,  and most of Section G is the same...except for this page of course.  The Index has been updated, though some of the listing for spouses were missed, and hopefully that oversight will be fixed soon (as soon as I figure out which ones *sigh* were missed when I was interrupted and the information put away before it was completed) .

12/06 Decided it was time to do a print-out of the outlines, story pages, and index. There hasn't been a printing of this information since 1998. It was a shock to me how much it has grown in 8 years. From a book which had about 200 pages it is now over 2000! The index pages themselves (which were not in the 1998 book) were over 500 pages. I'm sure the number of pages could be reduced, with small print, wider margins, fewer spaces between entries, etc.  There were some places where it didn't print out as it looks on site, like hidden page breaks, that I will try to correct.  So don't be looking for a book to be published that you can order or buy, and please be aware that some of these pages can take a lot of paper and ink if you decide to print them out.

12/06 Came across some sites about Egbertville, Staten Is., NY, and Egbert Square. Look for them in the Sites of Interest List. Still don't have the father of George Egbert, (Arthur Stanley Egbert's father,) or his grandparents, but now have his great-grandfather's name and can link him to the Govert Egbert family. If anyone has more about his immediate family I'd sure like to know. Look for what I have about them in the Govert Egbert Family, and in Miscellaneous Egbert names.

12/31/06 Last note of the year for sure!  Found a good site for individuals and cemetery listings, Find a Grave. The site is now listed in the Links of Interest page. I found many new Egbert  people to add to the Miscellaneous Egberts page, and added details to what was already known about many more.  There were Egberts in over 20 states, though some states only had one or two listed.  I've updated the outlines again to include what was found.

2/16/07 New Section on King Egbert!! The work on King Egbert's life continues, but the story of his life and times is now viewable.  There are some glitches on the pages and some typos, et cetera, to work out,  and I'd sure be grateful for any comments or suggestions. There has been several people contact me with further information about their part of the Egbert family, haven't had time to get to that while working on the King, but it won't be forgotten.

7/1/07  Received a number of emails in the last 6 months adding more information to the family history.  Those outlines affected are the George & John Egbert family, Govert Egbert family, Isaac Egbert family, Howe family and Hovis family. Hopefully I made all the right corrections and additions to the various index pages also.  I haven't really delved into  Egbert research of late, but with the help of all of the contributors the history is still growing by leaps and bounds.  Any and all help is appreciated.
