  General Notes:

Joseph's father was one of three brothers who were born in Virginia and moved to Wilson Co. TN, where they lived the rest of their lives. The most probable of the three seems to be Daniel. Logic for this conclusion is outlined in notes from Kay Chaudhri.

Joseph married Rachel COMPTON, daughter of Edward COMPTON and Rebecca MURPHY, on 7 Aug 1820 in Wilson Co., Tennessee.¹ (Rachel COMPTON was born in 1802 in Culpepper Co., Virginia ⁵ and died in 1864.)
