The first known record of Lemuel is dated 9 Aug 1820, when he witnessed the sale of 80 acres in Sect. 32 of Mad River Twp., Champaign Co. OH, by John and Mary BLUE [Q.] to William BLUE [P .].
[37670]
Lemuel bought 30 acres of land in the NW quarter of Sect. 33 of township4 range 11 of mad River Twp. Witnesses to this deed were John and William BLUE. There may have been some controversy over the title to this 30 acres, for quit claim deeds were written in 1823 and 1827, and Lemuel didn't start paying taxes on it until 1824. There is no record of the s ale of this land or its disposition after Lemuel's death filed in Champaign Co.

Charges For Misconduct In Office November Term 1827 Common Pleas Court of Champaign County, Honorable Joseph H. Crane, Preside nt and James Smith and William Runide Esquires his associates, as judges 12 November 1827. J. B. Heylin, James Dunlap, Jr., E. B. Cavalier, E. Baines, Jesse Bayle s, James Campbell, W. H. Fyffe, John Hurd, Douglas Luse and John Hamilt on good and lawful men of the county of Champaign came into court here and gave the court to understand that Daniel S. Bell Esquire, an attorney and counselor at Law in the Judicial courts of the State of Ohio, has be en guilty of misconduct in his office as an attorney and counselor at Law and of offending against public justice and good morals.
Charge that some time in the autumn of 1826 Bell called at the residence of Lemuiel (?) Blue who had been charged with larceny for stealing. Bell told Blue he would be sent to the Penitentiary but Bell assured Blue he could clear him and would do so for twenty five dollars. Blue was to give him a note for that amount. If Bell did not clear Blue, he would return the note and receive nothing. Blue was convinced that he would go to the Penitentiary whether guilty or not. However, no prosecution had in fact, as stated by Bell, been commenced against Blue. (Full notes on others-see notes on Daniel S Bell)

On 8 Dec 1831, Lemuel purchased 105 acres in Wayne Twp. of Champaign Co. from Joseph Huffman. This land, known as Lot # 2, was in the Military Surv y and was part of a 1000 acre tract designated by #6238. It is located about two miles east of Cable (formerly Cabletown) on the old railroad line. This land became the home of Lemuel and his family for the next 60 years. After Lemuel's death, many deeds and mortgages were filed by his descen dants. Initially, his heirs each had an undivided 1/5 of Lemuel's combined estate. Then in 1885, grandson Lewis's widow, and administratrix of h is estate, wrote a deed for an undivided 1/7 of Elbert's estate to Vermena. Still later, in 1891, Elbert's widow, Vermena, wrote a deed to her son, Henry, for an undivided 1/4 of the estate. That same year, Henry sold or mortgaged 4/7 share of the estate. A detailed study of these documents is needed to understand this mathematical progression.
