First I have heretofore given and made provisions for my oldest set of children namely Josiah B, Berry, Henry, Blount, Edwin, Robert and William N. Hodge and Lucy Barnes, .............. Having now made provisions for my wife and younger set of children it is my will and desire that the residue of my Estate go to my oldest set of children in equal portions, first setting apart for the use of my daughter Lucy Barnes negroes Dempsey and Dareas which said negroes I give in Trust to Robert Hodge Jr. to be by him held in trust during the life of said Lucy and the proceeds of their hire applied to her use and support and at her death the said slaves to go to her children in equal portions.
.........................And it is my will that said Lucy Barnes portion be taken into possession by said Robert Hodge her Trustee and the same together with said negroes Dempsey and Dareas is to be held in trust by him and from time to time applied to the use of said Lucy & family untill (sic) her death and then the Balance (sic) to be paid by said Trustee to the heirs of said Lucy in equal portions as they came of age or to their Guardians, but it is expressly understood that Thomas Barnes her husband is not to have any control or management of the same in any shape whatever so as to subject any of the profits to his debts, but to be for the sole use of said Lucy and children under the control of Ro. Hodge Jr her Trustee aforesaid.
