Champaign Co Court of Common Pleas Record book 2 pg 235 State of Ohio vs Robert Russell The Grand jury of the 3rd Monday of January 1812 bound over Robert Russell on a charge of assault on Polly Davore. Robert pleaded not guilty and was tried by Henry Bacon Esquire, Prosecutor. The petit jury; William Riddle, John Logan, William Cox, John Reed, Mathew Stewart, James Brown, Williams Stevens, John Crane, John Bishop, David Moody, Solomon Hanes and Dani el Helmick. The jury found Robert Guilty and he was fined $6.00 and the court costs of $13.68

Record Book 2, pg 362 June 12, 1812-Trespass (should be trespass quare clausum fregit, unlawful entry upon land) James Devore vs Robert Russell James Devore of Salem Township claimed that on 1 May 1812 Robert Russell " broke the close", entered and trod down with his feet grass worth $150. The petit jury, Joshua Sweet, John Reed, Zephaniah Luse, Daniel Helmick, Thomas John, John Crane, John McAdams, William Taylor, James Bishop, Lauren ce Nihel, John Dawson and Caleb Carter found Robert guilty. The court valued the damage at $1.59 and the costs at $18.60.

Record Book 11, Page 626- Filed 22 July 1831 Lydia Russell vs Nathaniel Hunter On 23 December 1805 Caleb Russell deceased purchased from Lucas Sullivant and wife (who received a patent from Philidelphia on 20 March 180?), 720 acres o Mad River and Darby Creek from Military Survey 114709 which was in the name o James Calderwood. [Note: Jam es Calderwood's survey is known as Number 368 in Wayne Township and L. Sullivant's survey is known as Number 13503 in Goshe and Rush Townships.] Caleb Russell died in 1810 and Robert Russell execute the deed to Joshua Russell on 5 May 1814 for 160 acres. Later Joshua deeded the land back to Robert. On 29 March 1815 Robert deeded 105 acres to Nathaniel Hunter and Hunt er has refused Lydia her dower right. Nathaniel replied that he thinks t he rest of the 75 acres is sufficient for the dower and that Joshua, wi th his two brothers, Caleb and Joseph were equal owners of a farm left by their father, Caleb, on the head waters of Buffalo Creek, Washingt on County, Pennsylvania which contained 200 acres and was sold to one Will iam Elems(?) and the money applied toward the purchase of the 720 acres. T he Court ruled that Lydia was entitled to 35 acres set off as a dower port ion from the 105 acres on 15 Julv 1831.
