What is the HALSEY Surname Mail List?
The HALSEY Surname Mail List is a place where individuals
interested in genealogical research into the HALSEY and
related family surnames may exchange ideas and
information related to their research.
Who may join the HALSEY Surname Mail List?
Anyone, casual or serious, interested in researching
HALSEY or related family surnames is encouraged to
subscribe to the mail list.
How do I subscribe to the Mail List?
You may subscribe to the mail list by going to the mailing list
page and following the instructions there.
Who do I contact if I have a problem subscribing to the
mail list?
If you have problems subscribing to the mail list, contact
the list administrator.

Do list Archives exist? If so, how do I access them?
Archive for this mail list exist in both threaded and
unthreaded format and are available through links
provided on the site navigation bar.
Is there a list of genealogical resources available for
doing research?
There is a list of genealogical resources, both free and
commercial, available on the Helpful Links Page which can
be accessed through the link provided on the site
navigation bar. New sites are continually being added. If
you have a list of favorite resource sites, please send
them to me and I'll place them on the Helpful Links Page.

of the mail list?
If you have any questions regarding operation of the mail
list, please contact the list administrator using the
link provided on the site navigation bar or by E-mail at [email protected]
How should I handle copyrighted material when posting to
the mail list?
Please respect copyright laws. If you wish to quote
documents or publications that are copyrighted, quote
just a few words or lines as necessary giving credit to
the author of the document or publication.
What type of material may be posted to the mail list?
Material posted to the list should be limited to only
material directly related to the subject of the list.
Advertisements, Chain Letters, virus warnings, or
personal message should not be posted to the list. If you
have a question or concern about something you would like
to post to the mail list, contact the list administrator
for verification.
What message formats are acceptable when posting to the
mail list?
HTML and RTF message formats are not acceptable formats
for posting to the mail list. They can cause problems for
the mail server and many Email programs. Some mail
programs come with these formats turned on, please turn
them off before posting to the mail list.
How do I handle sending attachments to the mail list?
Please do not send attachments of any kind to the mail
list, including V-Cards. If you have a document or other
file of interest to the mail list, notify the mail list
and; send it to individual addresses of those list
members that request it, or send it to the list
administrator to be posted on this web site.
Miscellaneous:
What do I do if I suspect I have received a virus from a
mail list message?
The Rootsweb mail list servers, which support the HALSEY
Surname Mail List, have many safeguards in place to
prevent the passing of viruses to the mail lists.
However, it is good practice to have an anti-virus
program on your computer, up-to-date and running. If you
believe you have received a virus from the mail list, Do
not post to the list, contact the list administrator at [email protected].
