The following two groups of photographs from the cemetery at Carleton, Michigan, were provided by Dennis Michaels, a descendant of William and Betsey Laura, and through Betsey, of Jonathan Fay. |
The first group is the Laura group. It includes two headstones: William and Betsey Laura; and their granddaughter Gertrude M. Laurie. The spelling of the last name changed back and forth over the years; in the census of 1910, Gertrude M. is shown as the 7th child of Robert Laurie and his wife, while William and two sons, Edward and John, seem to have kept the spelling "Laura." In 1880, the name is "Lury." |
Betsey Laura was the daughter of Jonathan and Fanny Swap Fay. She was born in 1851, the 7th of their children. |

The second group contains six graves, marked by a central memorial stone. Here rest Francis and Charlotte Fay, and two of their children, along with a grandchild and his wife. Francis was the son of Jonathan Fay and his first wife, Lois King. |
Francis Fay and his wife, Charlotte Brown Fay; and their oldest son, Orion Jonathan Fay |
William Edward Fay, son of Francis and Charlotte Anna F. [Harriman] Fay, wife of W. Edward; Leo F. Fay, son of William Edward Fay. |
