Albert and Cynthia Fay: Biography and Obituaries
Frank, the son of Albert and Cynthia, is not to be confused with his cousin Frank, son of Alvah Jr.; the two were almost the same age and they were both born in MN.  Frank, Alvah's son, was born 5/9/1875, and married Mamie Miller.  Frank, Albert's son, was born 11/28/1875, and married Mabel L. Sullivan.  Albert is listed with his family in the census of 1880 in Carlston.
Census Place:	Carlston, Freeborn, Minnesota

Albert moved to Custer County in 1886 and died there in 1898.   Cynthia did not die until 1909.  Many searches have not shown where Frank and Cynthia were in 1900. William is easily found, but Frank is simply not there.  According to Floy Fletcher, Frank "owned land on Squaw Creek, here he and his mother (Cynthia) lived, near the Ivanhoe mine. This is in what is known as Custer State Park some 10 or 15 miles north of where they first settled."  This is where they should be in 1900, but they have not been found.
When we see the family in 1910, Cynthia is gone, and Frank and Mabel have been married for two years.  They have one daughter, Lillian.  Frank is a farmer.  Frank is listed as born in Minnesota; his parents both in Canada (English). This pattern of birthplaces is identical in 1920 and 1930.
1910:    School District 6, Custer, SD
1920 finds the family still in Custer County, and Frank is still farming. All four children are now listed. Lillian is called "Lilly" or "Lily" in all three census records. The name of Frank and Mabel's second daughter appears to be wrong in both 1920 and 1930. She is listed in both as "Jaunita."
1920:    School District 18, Custer, South Dakota
1930 sees both a change in dwelling and a change in occupation. Frank is now working for the railroad, and he has moved to Pennington County (for a map, see Albert and Cynthia's page).
1930:    Township 2, Pennington, SD
The family spreads out a little after 1930, some moving to Nebraska and some to Arizona.
