From my previous email, looking at the big picture, it's highly unlikely Mary FAY(adopted daughter of Jeremiah FAY & Mary BRADLEY) was a daughter of Benajah FAY & Rhoda EDWARDS. The age for this Lavina may be wrong, as it's possible it may be Benajah's sister. This Eliza FAY is probably the one living with Mabel FAY HUMPHREY's family on the 1860 census.

NOTE: Benajah FAY Jr. died in 1849. Lois HODGMAN was his wife. At one time, I thought Lovina listed with the family was Benajah's sister (since the age could have been 76), but on this census it lists Lovina as having attended school within the year. It looks as if Benajah FAY Jr had a daughter in addition to their other children.

For references sake, Mabel above was a daughter of Benajah FAY. I do not know for certain how Harriet & James FAY fit into the family right now, but it would stand to reason they are related in some way. From records, at least two of Benajah's children relocated to Wisconsin. Eliza FAY, I believe is a child of Benajah FAY, and his second wife, Rhoda EDWARDS RHODES. I've sent the bios for Dudley HUMPHREY, and his son, Dudley HUMPHREY II, to the list sometime ago.

NOTE: You'll notice a Mary FAY, as an adopted daughter of Jeremiah & Mary FAY. I do not have verification, but I believe her to be a third child of Benajah FAY & Rhoda EDWARDS RHODES, both of whom died in the year previous to this census. The BRADLEY's with the family at this time are siblings to Mary Ann BRADLEY FAY, the wife of Jeremiah Wilcox FAY. Lavina FAY is an aunt to Jeremiah Wilcox FAY, and a sister to Benajah F FAY.

NOTE: Lavella here may be the middle name of Florilla BRAINARD FAY. but this is, no doubt, Asa's family. I do not know where Asa FAY was in 1860, but I've been told by other descendents of Benajah FAY that he did go out west and returned. I've not seen any proof of this, but he's apparently not in Ohio. He's listed in the infirmary on the 1870 census.
