MILLER/MUELLER in SOMERSET and FAYETTE COUNTIES

There are so many Miller Families living all over America due to the fact that names were originally assigned according to one's occupation or place of residence. Those who ground the harvested grains into meal owned mills and were known as "millers." Nearly every community had a miller and so the names were assigned to all people of this occupation and most were not relatives.

As far as I have been able to determine, Ludwig Solomon Mueller was born between 1715 and 1720 perhaps in America, but more likely in Germany. It is believed he died prior to 1779 in what is now Washington County, PA. His son, John Solomon Miller married three times: 1) Barbara ??? 2) Maria Eve Hiller 3) Elizabeth Kaffer. He died in Somerset County, PA. His son, Johnathan Solomon Miller was born in 1780 in Somerset County, PA. He and his wife, Elizabeth Sanner, are buried in Miller Row at the Sanner Lutheran Cemetery in Berlin, Pennsylvania (Somerset County).

Their daughter, Eve Miller, married John Prinkey III and they raised their family in Fayette County where they are buried at the Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery in Mill Run, Pennsylvania (Fayette County). I was born in the Fay-West area of Pennsylvania (along border of Fayette and Westmoreland Counties) where I spent my childhood.

Here is my direct line from Ludwig Solomon Mueller:
