"Descendants of James Kincaid."

The research was done by Dawn and Gordon Fendley, mostly from a trip to Dublin in Ireland. The birth and death dates of William have not been discovered but his marriage to Rebecca has, with the help of records in Australia. The information about James is from his obituary printed in a couple of newspapers that are mentioned below. Sarah always said that she was a non person as she did not have a birth certificate, we managed to find one at the Dublin Register Office and it proved her to be two years older than she thought.

Sarah Kincaid

Sarah Kincaid and Arthur Fendley
Sarah Kincaid, was born on the 17th December 1899 in Lettergul, Donegal, Ireland and died on the 2nd March 1985 She married Arthur George Fendley 8 June 1922 in Waterside Church, Parish of Glendermott, Londonderry, Ireland.
More About Sarah Kincaid:
Sara/Sarah was born in Lettergul, December,1899. It is not known how long she lived there with her parents and brother and sisters. At some time they moved to Londonderry, whether this was before her father died or not we do not know. Her mother, Rebecca, re-married to William Orr and they lived at 40 Alfred St. Waterside. Later, Maud Orr was born to Rebecca. When Sara was aged 23, she met a young soldier, Arthur, who was serving in the British Army at Eglington Barracks in Londonderry. They fell in love and married in the Waterside Presbyterian church on the 8th June, 1922. Sara never knew her correct age as she could never find a birth certificate, she thought she was born in 1901, two years younger than she was. Their first child was born on the 16th. Sept. 1922, a girl, Emily. Some time after this they moved to Parkstone, England, where Arthur came from, and they left Emily behind with her grandmother. The reason for this is unclear, maybe they thought that they could not support her until they had settled in. What ever reason Emily stayed there until the 1939/45 war. In the meantime Sara had six more children, four boys and two more girls. The first was a boy and the last was a girl. By this time the war had started and Arthur was called up and left the family to fend for themselves. After about a year the Battle of Britain was in full swing and Parkstone was getting bombed, so Sara decided to move the family back to Ireland. They moved in with her mother in Alfred St, Londonderry and that was the first time that the children met Emily. Also living there was Maud, Sara's step sister. They were there for a little while and then they moved to Portstewart which is a seaside resort. It appears that her brother was a district councilor there and he found a job with accomodation for her. The job was cook for a YWCA boarding house and there was plenty of room for all the children and herself. This carried on right through the war with the children going to school in Portstewart and a couple became old enough to start work. In 1946 Arthur came back from the war and they all, except the oldest boy, who had joined the army, moved back to England. They moved in with Arthur's sister in Old Wareham Rd. for a while, then the local council gave them a council house in Rossmore Road, Parkstone. Sara stayed in this house until the children had all left and her husband died in 1963. She moved to a smaller house and outlived her husband by nearly twentytwo years and filled her life with her church and her grandchildren. She was laid to rest beside her husband in March 1985 and was survived by her seven children, eighteen grandchildren.
Widowed: 23 September 1963
