Among the mementos and artifacts that have survived from my grandfather SHERMAN LINN SHAW II's life are an early driver's license with an expiration date of 1 May 1942 and the title to a 1933 Chevrolet Sedan that he purchased on 30 Oct. 1937 for $275. I can only guess why these items were preserved, but I suppose it could be that it was my grandfather's first driver's license and the title to the first car he ever bought with his own money (or perhaps his favorite car).
The driver's license and the front and back of the car title are shown below. The driver's license has been greatly enlarged -- its actual size is approximately one-sixth the size of the car title.
