St. Peter's Lutheran Church - Chicago, Illinois

The Kruse family moved to 3648 Fifth Avenue, now Wells, about 1893.  This current location is Comiskey Park, home of the Chicago White Sox.  St. Peter's German Evangelical Lutheran Church was first organized in 1871on 3918 Dearborn Street, or about 7 blocks from the Kruses new 4 plex apartment building.  We are fairly certain this is the church John Kruse help build around 1872.  The church later moved to 7400 South Michigan Avenue, then to its current location at 8550 South Kedvale in the 1950's.  The last seven of the Kruse children, William, Carl, Anna, George, Minnie, Frederick, and Florence, were baptized here at St. Peter's Lutheran Church.  We have not found a good picture of the old church, so what you see is from the 60th Anniversary Booklet, plus some pages of its history.
