This is all I have on my WILSON FAMILY. I have looked for 20 long years and have not found out much at all. I have never located them on a census as a family. 2. EMMA AVILLA2 WILSON (JESSE1) was born 08 Mar 1863 in Montpelier, Blackford, Indiana, and died 27 Feb 1908 in Roseville, Warren, Illinois. She married JAMES ARTOS MCDONALD HORRELL 13 Mar 1881 in Clay Center, Clay, Kansas, son of WILLIAM HORRELL and CAROLINE MCDONALD. He was born 05 Oct 1855 in Allensville, Mifflin, Pennsylvania, and died 03 Nov 1920 in Roseville, Warren, Illinois.

Emma's obituary was in "The Daily Review" Monmouth, IL

Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church in Roseville,Warren, Illinois, Had lived in Illinois 17yrs at time of death. So must have moved to Illinois in 1901. 1885 census Belleville, Republic, KS. states Emma was in Nebraska before Kansas

The 1900 census for Warren County, Illinois states Emma's father was born in Ohio and her mother in Indiana. Was a half Iroquois Indian. ?

 

Notes for JAMES ARTOS MCDONALD HORRELL:

James was a Tinner and Plumber.

1900 census Indiana- Roseville, Warren County. Sup 9 ED 95 Sheet 13B Artos Horrell ,Emma, Frank, George, Ambronetta, Mamie Elizabeth.

1910 census Indiana. Roseville, Warren County. Jack Horrel, Nette, Mamie, Elizabeth, Leslie, Benjamin. Also state Jack/James was born in Virginia.

James was a member of the City council in 1908 when Emma died. Obituary in "The Daily Revue Emma's obituary was

GEORGE PAYTON HORRELL, b. 10 Jun 1890, Belleville, Republic, Kansas (Source: Copy of Delayed birthcertificate and Baptism Certificate in the possession of Carleen Horrell Chacon.); d. 28 Nov 1959, Des Moines, Polk, Iowa; m. ANASTASIA B COLLINS, 25 Jul 1910, Des Moines, Polk, Iowa; b. 28 Feb 1884, Williston, Vermont; d. 10 May 1953, Des Moines, Polk, Iowa.   Notes for GEORGE PAYTON HORRELL: 1927 issued a license to practice barbering in Iowa. He owned and operated the barber shop in the Farm Bureau building for 35 years.

Funeral services were held at St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines, Polk, Iowa. Buried at Glendale Cemetery, Dew Moines, Polk, Iowa

Names Rufus Poe as father and his birthplace as Alabama. His age was 22.  I have a Bible of Amber's dated Jul 9, 1898 given to her by her brother Frank Horrell.   Amber was Baptist at the Roseville Christian Church at age 11

 

OBIT.

Mrs. Ambronetta Mae French, the daughter of Artos M. and Emma Avilla Wilson Horrell, was born December 5, 1893 at Roseville, Illinois and died Wednesday evening, Nov. 18, 1981 in the Boone County Hospital in Columbia where she had been a patient one week.

Before being hospitalized she had been a resident of a Nursing Home in Columbia.

In 1913 she married William Curtis Bollman who preceded her death in 1914. She was also preceded by her parents and six brother.

Surviving are two daughters, Alice Despiner of Milan, Illinois and Florence E. Allen of Green Castle; 6 grandchildren;2 great-grandchildren, 14 great- great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Betty Warden of Vallejo, California and Mrs. Mamie Hall of Long Beach, California.

Mrs. French lived most of her life in Davenport, Iowa. The past eight years she has lived in Green Castle and Columbia. She was a member of the Christian Church.

Grave side services were held 2:00pm Saturday, November 21, 1981 in the Green Castle Cemetery with the Elder Jack L. Jones Of Green Castle officiating. Services were under the direction of the Glenn E. Kent and Son Funeral Home.

Went as Ben until he went to California then went as James. He lived in San Diego for a year then in Jan 1942 moved to Vallejo where he went to work in the Shipyard.   Burial at Sunrise Cemetery, Vallejo, Solano, California

VESSIE JUANETTE EVANS, 20 Jul 1930; b. 20 Jan 1911, Berwyn, Custer, Nebraska; d. 11 Jun 1946, Sutherland, Lincoln, Nebraska (Source: Death-relayed by her son Robert Flebbe.).

Notes for KENNETH RAY HORRELL FLEBBE: Kenneth was born Kenneth Ray Horrell. His natural mother died 17 days after his birth. He was taken by her sister May Wilson Flebbe to Cairo, Hall, Nebraska. May had no children. It is said that James Artos never gave May permission to take Kenneth. Kenneth was listed in James will in 1920 as Kenneth Ray Horrell of Cairo, Hall, Nebraska. Kenneth died in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Cremated and buried in Berwyn, Custer, Nebraska
