William Henry MARSH was born on 23rd January 1885 at 4 Bradstone Road Folkestone. His parents were William and Mary Ann MARSH and he was the first of three sons. William married Mildred Emma MARSH on 1st January 1907 at Christ Church Folkestone. They had three children. In 1916 William volunteered to serve in the Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment. He was killed in action on The Somme on 30th September 1916.

In the picture below William is at the rear on the left. To his right is his brother Percival John MARSH and seated in the centre is his wife Mildred Emma MARSH. The identity of the other gentlemen is not known. It is possible that the man seated to the right of Mildred is William and Percy's brother Albert MARSH
