This is the Last Will and testament of me William NORMAN the elder of Dorchester in the County of Dorset made the eighth day of August one thousand eight hundred and four.

First: I give and devise the messuage or dwelling house with the appurtenances wherein I now dwell in South Street, Parish of Saint Peter Dorchester aforesaid unto my wife Mary NORMAN for and during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise the same and every part thereof unto my son Edward NORMAN his heirs and assigns provided always that in case my said son Edward should die without having issue male lawfully begotten then I give and devise the said messuage or dwelling house unto my grandson John Evomy NORMAN his heirs and assigns for ever,
    Also: I give and bequeath unto my said wife the use of the my household goods plate linen china and funiture to hold occupy and enjoy the same during her life and from and after her decease I give and bequeath the said household goods plate linen china and funiture unto my said son Edward and my daughter Mary equally to be divided between them share and share alike
    Also: I give and bequeath unto my son James NORMAN one hundred pounds to be paid him by my executor and executrix hereinafter named in twelve months next after my decease
    Also: I give and bequeath unto my son James NORMAN so much of my estate term and interest of and in my leasehold messuage or dwelling house with the appurtenances in which he now resides lying in Mill Street in the parish of Fordington in the County aforesaid as shall run out and expire in his life time and from and after his decease I give and bequeath the same unto my grandson Edward son of the said James NORMAN for and during the residue and remainder of my estate and interest therein
    Also: I give and bequeath unto my said son Edward NORMAN and my said daughter Mary FOWELL all that my moiety or half part of and in all that copyhold estate called a half place situate and lying in the Manor of Fordington aforesaid late towards now held for the lives of John COWARD and William NORMAN and Joseph NORMAN my grandsons to hold and enjoy the same during the life time of my said wife and from and after her decease I give and bequeath the said moiety or half part of the said copyhold estate unto my son the said Edward NORMAN to be held and enjoyed by him for and during his natural life subject nevertheless and charged and chargeable to and with the payment of ten shillings and six pence weekly and every week unto my son Thomas NORMAN for the term of his natural life the first payment thereof to begin and be made at the end of one week next after my decease and from and after the decease of my said son Edward NORMAN I then give and bequeath the same moiety or half part of the said copyhold estate subject and charged as aforesaid with the payment of the said weekly sum of ten shillings and six pence unto my said grandson John Evomy NORMAN his executors administrators and assigns for and during the residue and remainder of my estate and interest therein
    Also: I give and grant unto my said wife for and during the term of her natural life one clear annuity or yearly sum of thirty pounds to be paid to her by half yearly payments in equal proportions the first payment thereof tp begin and be made at the end of six calandar months next after my decease and I hereby charge the said annuity of thirty pounds on my personal estate hereby given and bequeathed unto my said son Edward and daughter Mary FOWELL my executor and executrix herein after named and do subject the same to the payment thereof
    Also: I give unto my son William NORMAN the sum of ten pounds to be paid at the end of twelve months next after my decease
    Also: I give unto such of the children or issue of my deceased daughter Jane OLD as shall be living at the time of my the death of my said wife the sum of fifty pounds to be equally divided in amongst them share and share alike which said legacy of fifty pounds shall be paid by my executor and executrix upon the death of my said wife and not before
    Also: I give unto my grand daughter Jane BRETT fifty pounds to be paid her on the death of my said wife by my said executor and executrix, and
All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my monies securities for money stock in trade personal estate and effects of what nature or kind soever not hereinbefore by me given I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said son Edward NORMAN and daughter Mary FOWELL their executors administrators and assigns equally to be divided between them
    And: I appoint my said son Edward and daughter Mary joint executor and executrix of this my last will and testament

Probate of the Will.
This Will was proved at London the ninth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand wight hundred and five before the Right Honourable Sir William WYNNE Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissionary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of Edward NORMAN the son of the deceased and Mary FOWELL widow the daughter of the deceased and the executors named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer

Genealogical Notes:-

(1). William NORMAN (1724-1805) was baptised at Holy Trinity Church in Dorchester on 10th Jan 1744/5. He later married Mary HELERD at All Saints church in Dorchester on 8th Nov 1847. Follow link for more information about their 10 children. William was buried at Holy Trinity Church in Dorchester on 5th July 1805.

(2) Edward NORMAN (1759-1807) the executor referred to in the will was the 8th of their 10 children and baptised at Holy Trinity Church Dorchester on 19 Jan 1759 and buried their 1st June 1807.

(3) James NORMAN (1753-1821) his son and a beneficiary under the will was the 4th of their 10 children and baptised at Holy Trinity Church on 12 Mar 1753. He married Martha EVOMY at St Peters Church in Dorchester on 8th June 1778. He was the father of William's grandson John Evomy NORMAN (1788-1880) who was baptised at Holy Trinity on 11th Aug 1785 and later married Alice Winsor in 1808.

(4) Mary FOWELL nee NORMAN (b.1760) the executrix under the will was the 9th of their 10 children and baptised at Holy Trinity Church on 20 Jun 1760. She married William FOWELL at HT church on 5th June 1788.

(5) Jane OLD nee NORMAN (1751-1784) was the 3rd of their 10 children and baptised at Holy Trinity Church on 9th Oct 1751. She married William OLD (1753-1805) on 15 Dec 1774 at St Peters Church in Dorchester and was buried at Holy Trinity Church on 23rd Feb 1784.
