Thomas Brennan was a native of Boyle, County Roscommon, Ireland. He appears
to have been married in Ireland and came to this country in the late 1840s.
He and his wife settled in Lowell , Massachusetts until about 1857 when he
brought his family west to Hastings, Minnesota. He took up farming
in nearby Washington County. By 1870, the family owned a farm in Welch
Township, Goodhue County.

In 1900, Agnes Black Brennen indicated that she had 14 children with 12 living
- Ann and Winnifred seem to have died before 1900. Daughter Agnes was
living in Minneapolis in 1929.

James was born in Lowell , Massachussets in 1853 and came west with is parents
in 1857. He was raised in Washington County, Minnesota. In 1876, he
married Mary McDermott and moved to Welch Township in Goodhue County. See

Joseph was born in South Dakota (then Dakota Territory). By 1920, the
couple had two children and were living in Glasgow, Mountain County, Montana
where Joseph managed a lumber company..
