the thomas & ann kelly family
THOMAS KELLY ( - ) (Parents Unknown)
ANN ( - ) (Parents Unknown)
Nothing much is known about Thomas and Ann except that they were from somewhere
in Co. Mayo Ireland. All of their known children where born in Co. Mayo so
it is assumed that they were married there. It is not known for certain whether
or not they ever came to the United States. There was a Thomas and Ann Kelly
living for a time in Eagan MN living near the Catherine
Devitt farm. This family disappeared from the records in the 1880s and
it is not known what happened to them. In any case, the connection is unsupported
at this time.

JOHN KELLY (1834-1904) Son of
Thomas Kelly & Ann
MARY McGRATH (1834-1903) (Parents Unknown)
John was born somewhere in County Mayo Ireland but it is not known exactly
when he came to this country or where he resided before coming to Minnesota.
He may have lived for a time in Clinton Mass. as this is where his sister
came from. It is not known when or where he was married but their first child
was apparently born out east in 1860. This family eventually came to Minnesota
and in 1868, John purchased a farm in Lebanon Twp. in Dakota County Minnesota.
His wife Mary had a sister by the name of Hannah. Hannah was married to James
Haverty in St. Paul in 1870. Both James and Hannah died while their children
were young. John and Mary Kelly raised the Haverty children along with their
own. John also had a sister who settled in Eagan in the mid 1850s.

John and Mary remained on the family farm until their respective deaths.
They are both buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Rosemount. It is not clear
what happened to the oldest daughters but the rest of the family appears
to have remained in the area. Hannah, Catherine and Sarah were all apparently
dead by 1942.
THOMAS KELLY (1835-1914) Son of
Thomas Kelly & Ann
CATHERINE (1837-1920) (Parents Unknown)
Nothing is known about Thomas prior to the early 1870s when he settled on
a farm in Syness Twp. in Stevens County Minnesota. He is known to have been
born in Ireland but it is not certain where he and his wife were living prior
to this time. At least two of their children were born prior to their arrival
in Stevens County. Nothing is known about his wife's background.
