Nothing is known about these two except that Betsey is listed as the mother
for John Loftus. They must have been natives of County Galway because that
is where John and his sister were born. It is possible that at least one
of them settled in New York but there is no evidence that either of them
ever came to Minnesota.

There was another Loftus family that settled in
Glendale Twp. in Scott County which was near where John Loftus settled. This
family also came from County Galway Ireland but no relationship has yet been
determined. Nothing is known about Andrew and Patrick except that they were
living in the area for a while and have burials in Highland cemetary indicating
a possible relationship. This family may also be related to the Martin Walsh
family but again, no clear relationship has been determined.

John was born somewhere in County Galway Ireland and emigrated to the United
States in 1854. He landed in New York where he remained for about two years
before coming to St. Paul Minnesota. In 1858 he made a claim in Dakota County
Minnesota and after his marriage in 1862, he and his wife took up residence
on farm in section 14 of Lakeville Twp. Nothing is known about his wife but
it is possible that she was the sister of Peter McCue who also settled in
the area.

John retired from farming in 1905 and moved into the town of Lakeville where
he remained until shortly after the death of his wife in 1909. He later moved
into the city of St. Paul where he remained until his death. Both he and
his wife are buried in the family plot in Rosemount Minnesota.

Nothing at all is known about this family except that one of their children
is buried in Hyland Cem. near the Walsh plot. There is no other record of
the family ever residing in the are so it is assumed that this daughter was
visiting relatives at the time of her death.
