William was born and raised in Queens County, Ireland. His eldest child was
born somewhere in New Jersey. William bought the family farm in Rosemount
in 1867.

An obituary for William stated that he was survived by three sons and five
daughters. Julia continued to live on the farm with Michael after his marriage
though she was residing in St. Paul with her daughter, Mrs.Griffin,
at the time of her death. John J. and his wife, Mary lived next door to the
Griffens in 1910.
Mary and her husband, Thomas McDonough, were known to have had six
children: two children who died before 1900, Francis H (1885-) , Mary
L . (1886- ) Julia M. (1889-) and Thomas J. (or Joseph). Thomas was
born in New Hampshire. In 1920, Thomas was living with daughter Mary
and son-in-law, Charles Holmes in St. Paul. Thomas was a mechanic in
railroad car shops.
