The death occurred in Hospital, on Thursday, of Miss Muriel Larking, aged 38 years, of Wanganui East, who was admitted suffering from serious burns, through her night attire catching fire. Miss Larkings attire is believed to have caught fire from a candle placed by her bedside. People in the house wherer she lived heard her cries for help, but by the time they arrived and extinguished the flames, she had been serverely burned.

The death occured at the weekend of another of the fast diminishing list of pioneers, in the person of Mr Niels Larsen, of Norsewood. Mr Larsen landed in 1875 arriving in the ship "Fritz Reiter" from Sweden, where he was born in Warburg, in 1842. He leaves a widow.

OBITUARY- Mrs J. Lockington who died at Tauranga last week, was an old resident of the Dominion, aged 74 years. She was born in County Cavan, Ireland, and accompanied her husband to New Zealand nearly fifty years ago. They lived at Thames for about a year, when Mr. Lockington bought a farm near the Katikati township. The family had since resided in Katikati and Waihi. The deceased is survived by her husband and an adult family of six. - Messrs William and James Lockington, farmers of Katikati; John Lockington of the firm Pattison and Lockington, Waihi and Te Kuiti; Mrs A. Johnston of Tauranga, Mrs A. Pattison of Auckland, and Miss Lockington of Waihi.

On September 2nd, accidently killed, Ruth Evelyn, dearly loved daughter of A L M and M E Lynne, 30 Hokonui Road, Otahuhu, and loving Grandaughter of Mrs M A Lynne, aged 3 years. Sadly missed. Funeral will leave the above address for the Otahuhu Public Cemetery, tomorrow at 2 30pm. OBITUARY- While playing on the street near her home, Otahuhu, shortly before 2 pm yesterday, Ruth Evelyn Lynne, was knocked down by a Motor Lorry and killed. The child was playing with her brother, aged 7 near a heavy Lorry, owned by Crystal Aerated Waters, Ltd which was stationary while the driver, Mr A C Edwards was delivering supplies to residents in Hokonui Road. As the lorry backed out of the street, the driver felt a bump, and on stopping his lorry, found the girl lying between the front and rear wheels. When Dr E R Lange arrived, he found the girl dead.
