This information was compiled in order to provide information about the ancestors of Louise Eveyln Chollet. Everadus Bogardus and his wife Anneke Jans were selected as a starting point because they are the most well documented part of her ancestral lineage. Only those lines which are directly related to Louise Eveyln Chollet are presented in detail. For additional information about other related family groups the reader should check the references noted in the footnotes.
1. Evardus2 Bogardus (Willem1 Corneliz.) He was born about 1607 or 1608 in Woerden, Holland. His father is believed to be Willem Cornelisz. and his mother is likely to have been Niesgen Pietersdr. Both of his parents died while he was young and he was placed in the Woerden orphanage. He had two brothers - Pieter Bogaert and Cornelis Bogaert.
He was a tailor's apprentice until September 1622. He entered Leiden University on 17 July 1627 and was awarded theWoerden Scholarship to attend the States Theological College at Leiden University. On 9 September 1630 he was sent to the Coast of Guinea (Ghana, Africa) to serve as a Comforter of the Sick by the Amsterdam Consistory on behalf of the West India Company. He returned to Amerstadam in 1632 to seek admission into the ministry. He was sent to New Amsterdam as a minister and arrived on the ship de Soutberg in April 1633. He died in a ship wreck near Swansea, Wales, on 29 September 1647.
He married the widow Anneke Jans in March 1638. She was born at Vleckere (Flekkeroy, Flekkeroy Island, Vest Agder in 1997), Norway, about 1605. She was the daughter of Trijn Roeloffs. Her father's name is unknown. In 1623, she married Roeloff Jansoon (born about 1602 in Bohulsan, Norway, died in 1636 in New Amsterdam). She died at Beverwyck (Albany, NY) and was buried 23 February 1663. She had six children from her first marriage and four from her second marriage. [1]
5. Pieter3 Bogardus (Evardus2, Willem1) He was baptized on 2 April 1645 at New Amsterdam Dutch Reformed Church. He died between 3 February 1702 and 20 September 1703 at Kingston, New York. He married Wyntje Cornelise Bosch on 10 February 1665. She was buried 28 January 1712. [2]
6. Evert4 Bogardus (Pieter3, Evardus2, Willem1) He was born about 1666 or 1667, and was baptized in 1672. He died on 14 April 1717 at Kingston, NY. He married Tjaatje Hoffman on 9 May 1697 at the Old Dutch Church of Kingston, NY. She was born in New York City. [3]
16. Petrus5 Bogardus (Evert4, Pieter3, Evardus2, Willem1) He was born 24 November 1699 at Kingston, NY, and was baptized on 3 December 1699 at the Old Dutch Church, Kingston, NY. He died on 8 August 1775. He married Rebecca Du Bois on 15 September 1726. She was baptized on 31 October 1708 at the Reformed Dutch Church at Albany, NY. She died 3 August 1775. She was the daughter of Jacob Du Bois and Gerritje Gerritis. [4]
25. Jacob6 Bogardus (Petrus5, Evert4, Pieter3, Evardus2, Willem1) He was born 11 August 1740 and baptized on 17 August 1740 at the Old Dutch Church, Kingston, NY. He died 21 September 1829 and is buried at the Locust Grove Cemetery, Greenville, Greene Co., NY. He was married about 26 March 1764 to Patience Harvey of Sharon, CT. She was born in 1743 and died on 17 October 1828. [5]
29. Rebecca7 Bogardus (Jacob6, Petrus5, Evert4, Pieter3, Evardus2, Willem1) She was born on 27 January 1779. She died 19 April 1853 and is buried at Catskill, NY. She married Frederick Chollet. He was born on 12 November 1764. He died on 2 September 1848 and is buried at Catskill, NY.[6]
30. William8 Chollet (Rebecca7, Jacob6, Petrus5, Evert4, Pieter3, Evardus2, Willem1) He married Caroline McKean. She was the daughter of Barnabas Henry McKean (born about 1785 at Guilford, CT, buried Catskill, NY) and Susan Townsend (born 10 October 1788 at Fishkill, Dutchess Co., NY, died 29 November 1864 at Philadelphia, PA, buried at Catskill, NY). Barnabas McKean was the son of Barnabas McKean (born about 1754 at Guilford, CT, buried at Durham, Green Co., NY) and Mabel Hill (born about 1755, died about 1819). Susan Townsend was the daughter of John Townsend and Sarah Tappen (daughter of Teunis Tappen), who were married at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess Co., NY, on 4 April 1775.[7]
31. Louise Eveyln9 Chollet (William8, Rebecca7, Jacob6, Petrus5, Evert4, Pieter3, Evardus2, Willem1) She was born before 1840 at New Bedford, MA. She died 25 December 1904 at the Hotel Carlton, New York City, NY, and was buried at the Vallhala Cemetery, Westchester Co., NY, on 29 December 1904. She was married on 13 May 1857 to William Furniss. He was born on 23 June 1821 at St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and died on 14 April 1882 at New York City, NY.
