45. Andrew E.⁴ Spalding (Eleanor³, Francis², James¹) He was born in 1811. He died 12 September 1857 at his hotel the Canton House in Canton, PA. He married Cynthia S. Holcomb. She was the daughter of Sterling Holcomb of LeRoy township in Bradford County. [33]

52. Francis (Frank)⁴ Watts (James³, Francis², James¹) He was born about 1819 in PA. He is believed to have married to Catherine [-?-]. He died of Bright's disease on 7 March 1899 at Towanda, PA., and was buried on 9 March 1899 at Riverside Cemetery in Towanda. It is assumed that Francis Watts (age 31), Catherine Watts (age 26) and Eliza. A. Watts (age 10 months) were a family unit because the three individuals were recorded in the household of Rebecca Watts during the 1850[34] census but were not found in the 1860 census records for Bradford County, PA.

		163.	ii	Katherine C. Watts born about 1865, married Charles R. Williams on 1 July 1895 by Rev. John S. Stewart, she was Deputy Postmaster at the time of her marriage and he was a rural route postal clerk.

53. Celinda⁴ Watts (James³, Francis², James¹) She married William Keeler. He was born on 1 July 1818 and died 8 November 1890. He was the son of Solomon Keeler (died 1824) and Lucy [-?-] (born about 1766, died 24 July 1845, aged 79 years, 4 months, 20 days) as reported by Heverly or Solomon Keeler and Johanna Reed as reported in the DAR membership applications. William's grandfather was Ebenezer Keeler, who enlisted in Connecticut for three years on 11 March 1777. William Keeler was a sign and house painter in Towanda, and a noted violin player. [35]

57. Thomas Murray⁴ Watts (Squire³, Francis², James¹) He was born 4 January 1825 at Towanda, PA. He was the eldest child in his family. He died on 5 January 1899 at LeRoy, and was buried at East Canton, PA., on 8 January 1899.

He was a farmer and worked as a carpenter and in lumbering. He held the office of commissioner for 9 years, was justice of peace for 3 years and was school director for 13 years. In 1860, he was listed as being a farmer with real estate valued at $1,200 and personal property valued at $1,200. During the 1870 census this family lived in Canton Township, Bradford County. During the 1870 census, the household included a 22 year old male, Squire Watts, who may have been a brother or son of Thomas Murray Watts. In 1870, Thomas Murray Watts was reported as working in a saw mill. He reported having real property worth $5,000 and personal property worth $1,000.      

On 8 March 1865, he married Mary Beardsley. She was born about 1842 in PA., the daughter of Jacob Beardsley and his wife Polly Farr. In 1900, Mary was listed as a widow, head of household with her children Thomas and Helen. In 1910, Mary was recorded as being a widow, mother of 5 children, all living. The 1910 census lists her father as being born in Connecticut and her mother being born in New York. [36]

		166.	i	Mary Louise5 Watts born about 1866, died 7 February 1940, age 74, esteemed East Canton Resident, a school teacher for most of her life.

		169.	iv	Thomas Murray Watts, Jr. born March 1878 in PA. Worked as a lumber inspector in Canton in 1900.
		170.	v	Helen LaVille Watts born about 1881, a teacher and resident of Canton at the time of her marriage, married by Rev. Clyde C. Gustin at East Canton on 6 January 1910 to John Baker Roberts (born about 1879, son of James M. Roberts and Olivia [-?-]) of Maryland, a banker.

59. William⁴ M. Watts (Squire³, Francis², James¹) He was born 5 August 1828 at Canton. In the 1860 census, he was reported to own real estate valued at $1,200 and real property worth $400. By 1870, the family's real property had increased in value to $4,000 and the personal property was valued at $1,000. In the 1860-1880 U.S. Census records, he was reported as being a farmer living in East Canton. In 1910, he was living with his daughter Myra and her family.

He was married married 2 July 1854 to Frances Adeline (Adaline) Naylor. She was born in Owego, New York, about 1837. She died on 7 May 1903 after an illness of five months duration. She was buried at East Canton on 10 May 1903. [37]

60. Jane E.⁴ Watts (Squire³, Francis², James¹) She was born 21 October 1831 at Canton, Bradford Co., PA., and died 10 November 1919 at Union Township, Tioga Co., PA. She was married on 11 January 1858 to Cornelius V. Stull. He was born in PA. on 17 January 1824 and died 28 March 1899. [38]

61. Andrew E.⁴ Watts (Squire³, Francis², James¹) He was born 31 January 1833 in East Canton. He died on 27 November 1904.

He was a farmer and a dairyman. During the Civil War he served with Company C, One Hundred and Thirty-second PA. Volunteer Infantry from 25 July 1862 until he was mustered out 24 May 1863. He fought at the battles of Antietam and Fredericksburg, where he was wounded on 13 December 1862. While in the Army he was promoted from corporal to sergeant. He served one term as school director and one term as collector.      

On 21 June 1866, he was married by the Rev. J. W. Putman to Samantha Morse. She was born 3 July 1844 in LeRoy township. Her parents were Sullivan Morse and Phoebe Bailey. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She died 27 June 1929.

During the 1870 US census this family was living in Canton Township, Bradford County. Andrew's occupation was listed as farmer. He reported have real property worth $5,000 and personal property worth $1,000. In 1900, Andrew and Samantha's son Clarence and his family were living with them in Canton. During the 1910, Samantha was living with her son Clarence and his two children. The 1910 census, records that she had two children and both were living. [39]

		181.	i	Frank5 Watts born 30 March 1867 at Canton, worked as a bank clerk at the First National Bank of Canton in 1891, died 5 November 1935, married Frances Everett.

72. Lucinda Jane⁴ Watts (William Means³, Francis², James¹) She was married to Morgan DeWitt Strickland of Wysox on 23 August 1849 by the Rev. Julius Foster. He was the son of Stephen Strickland (born 1 January 1791, married 16 March 1818, died 12 April 1874) and Mary DeWitt (born 16 December 1793, died 27 February 1860, daughter of Paul DeWitt and Elizabeth Sly) of Burlington.[40]

75. Samuel C.⁴ Watts (John³, James², James¹) He was born in 1823 and died in 1895. He married Sophia [-?-] before 1856. She was born in 1832 and died in 1881. Both are buried in the Salladasburg Cemetery. [41]

		185.	ii	Ransome Watts died 29 December 1868, buried Salladasburg Cemetery, age 8 years, 2 months, 5 days.
		186.	iii	John S. Watts born 1860, died 1901, buried Salladasburg Cemetery, married 18 September 1884 to Lena Folger (born 1860, died 1942, buried Salladasburg Cemetery).
		187.	iv	Esther Watts born 1 February 1862, died 7 February 1923 at Larryville, buried Salladasburg Cemetery, married [-?-] Gohl.
		188.	v	Saul Watts died 10 September 1865, buried Salladasburg Cemetery, age 1 year.

76. Thomas Jefferson⁴ Watts (John³, James², James¹) He was born 3 December 1825 at Turbut Township, Northumberland Co., PA. He died 5 September 1913 at Salladasburg, PA. According to the 1892 History of Lycoming County, "He received a common school education, and early in life engaged in lumbering. In 1844 he and his brother purchased the old homestead from Samuel Humes, and lived there until 1852. He then bought his present farm of ninety two acres, which he has since cleared and improved. ... Mr Watts is a Republican, and was elected a justice of the peace in 1884, and re-elected in 1889. he is a member of the Salladasburg Methodist Episcopal church, in which he has been a trustee for fifteen years, and is also a class leader and Sunday school superintendent in that organization."    

He married Lydia Williamsonin 1848. She was born on 7 July 1827 and died on 16 June 1897 at Salladasburg, PA. She was the daughter of John and Lydia Williamson. Her brother Aaron Williamson married Thomas Jefferson Watts' sister Phoebe T. Watts. [42]

77. Mariah Jane⁴ Watts (John³, James², James¹) She was born on 10 October 1828, and died on 14 July 1886. She married Saul Birch Mallory about 1847. He was born on 10 October 1827 and died in 1902. During the 1850 census they were living in Mifflin Township, Lycoming Co., PA. [43]

78. John A.⁴ Watts (John³, James², James¹) He was born 30 September 1830, died 24 October 1906 and is buried at Salladasburg Cemetery. He served in Co. I, 62 Regiment, PA Volunteers. He married Martha Alice [-?-]. She was born about 7 October 1859 and died on 25 December 1876.[44]

81. Phoebe T.⁴ Watts (John³, James², James¹) She married Aaron C. Willamson in 1855. He was the son of John and Lydia Williamson. Her brother Thomas Jefferson Watts married Aaron Williamson's sister Lydia Williamson.

Aaron was born on 5 April 1833 at Lycoming Township. According to the 1892 book History of Lycoming County, PA, "... he was educated in the public schools and learned the carpenter's trade and afterwards engaged in that business in connection with the millwright's trade, and built several new mills, barns, and houses. In 1860 he located on his present farm of eight-five acres in Mifflin township which he cleared and improved. In 1883 he was appointed storekeeper and gauger in the Twelfth district of PA. In 1885 the Democratic administration removed him, but in 1889 he was reappointed to the same office, which position he now holds. ... Politically he is a Republican, has been prominent in local affairs, and has filled most of the township offices. ..." [45]

84. Jonathan William⁴ Watts (John³, James², James¹) He was born on 28 December 1841 at Salladasburg, PA. He died at his daughter Esther's home at Jersey Mills, Lycoming Co., PA. on 9 April 1930. He participated in the Civil War as a member of Co. K, 8th PA. Volunteer Calvary, and in Co. B, 112th Infantry Regiment.   

He was married by the Rev. J. H. Grier to Elizabeth Nabal on 25 February 1871. She was born on 20 April 1852 at Tombs Run, PA. She died at her daughter Nevada's home at Corning, New York, on 26 July 1928. [46]
