Bill and Bettie Lee (Sheppard Barnes) Gaddis, the early years
His father, Allen C. Gaddis, was said to be "Irish Canadian"....have no other information other than Allen C. Gaddis may have been in Michigan (according to son Benjamin Allen Gaddis' delayed birth certificate) or in Tennessee (according to son William Gaddis' application for a delayed birth certificate for his daughter, Nora Helen Gaddis). The 1910 Johnston County, Okla. census record identifies Ben Gaddis' father as being "Irish Canadian".....
Allen Gaddis is found in 1880 in Fannin County marrying Alice Rogers Whalin, then disappears. We have their original marriage certificate. Alice Rogers Whalin Gaddis Chapman is found in 1900 Indian Territory Census with "step-son" William Gaddis and her two daughters, Myrtle and Mattie Chapman. William Gaddis is a laborer and is supporting his mom and sisters.
