Benjamin Thomas Long

Benjamin Thomas Long is the son of James Avant Long was born around 1843 and died about August 1831.  He married Nancy Ann (Ward or Hinson) March 4, 1863 in Brunswick County, NC.  Benjamin was a private in the 2nd Co. H, 40th North Carolina Regiment, 3rd North Carolina Artillery during the civil war.  He entered into the service June 18, 1861. He was wounded at the Battle of Bentonville in Four Oaks on March 19, 1865 by a bullet that entered his abdomen, with the ball lodging in his back. 

Buried in the Overbee Cemetery in Brogden, Johnston Co., North Carolina just off of Brogden Road.

 

Benjamin and Nancy had nine children and lived primarily in Johnston County, NC.
