The 78th annual anvil shoot to commemorate
Veteran's Day in Hamilton was a bang up affair, despite an early hour
and a brisk north wind.
"We had several out-of-town reporters
and photographers attend, in addition to the former attorney general of
Texas, Waggoner Carr. It was a great success," said American Legion
Commander David lee.
Lee said the highlight of the morning was a
speech given by the Sgt. Major of the United States Army, Sgt. Major
Rich Canton of Fort Hood.
"The head count was at least 175 people
at the anvil shoot and more than 200 for the breakfast," said Lee.
Lee expressed his thanks to Wesley and Norma
Jones for providing the sausage, biscuits and gravy.
The next anvil shoot is scheduled for
Monday, Nov. 11, 1996.
