PASTIME ACTIVITIES
Across
the Fence

Mary
and I found a good way to pass the time away while shut in by bad
weather. She worked on putting pictures in albums and clippings in a
scrap book and I worked on a jig-saw puzzle.
Mary
had boxes and boxes of snapshots from back about year one, so she
decided to divide them up and make an album for each of her two sons. It
has been a very tedious task, but it will give the boys a very
interesting and valuable keepsake.
The
scrap book is full of clippings of births, weddings, anniversaries and
deaths. Among them you will find clippings of her children and
grandchildren’s activities in school. You will find a few hand drawn
Valentines expressing love from about a second grader. There is Mary’s
third grade report card, napkins from weddings and receptions, you just
name it.
Some
of the children gave us a 2,000 piece jig-saw puzzle, so I tackled it
during the bad weather. Made it pretty well on the easy parts, but much
of it is very much alike. Since the parts are shaped nearly alike and so
many have the same color you have to use the trial and error method. It
takes a long time to try a thousand pieces.
The
boxes probably should be labeled, “Caution, can be hazardous to your
health.”
