BOGGY CREEK

Boggy Creek heads southeast of Preacher Cemetery about ten miles north of Hamilton and drains into the Leon River below the Leon River Bridge on US 281 north of Hamilton. The name was derived from its many bogs from which early day cattlemen had to extricate cattle.  CR 204 crosses Boggy Creek between CR 203 and CR 210.

"Boggy Creek heads on the old Preacher’s place owned by Mrs. Finace (Finis) Simpson, runs through the Fulbright, Jim Hale, Perry White, and A. L. Shipman ranches. Empties into the Leon below the Hico bridge. In an early day the stockmen had to pull so many cattle out of bog holes in this creek that they gave it the name Boggy."--Doris LaRue Stapleton and Capt. C. E. Horton.
