GEORGE WASHINGTON WADE
Sheriff Wade, he said, came from Bell County like the Bouldings, and
then went, he thought, to Cleburne. That he thought he had been sheriff in
Bell County. (He served one term here [1877-1879] and later two
terms in Bell County is my understanding. Think he married a Boulding from
Bell County, as did Mr. J. T. James, so the families were related. Mr. Wade
appears to have been Master of the Masonic Lodge about 1879. He had been
on a whaler in the Pacific, and left a written memoir found by his
grandson, Mr. Wilson Wade, of Temple, now passed on, who was a good friend
of mine.)
