Snell had been back from Bosque some little time before they killed him
in 1880. He went off there and stayed awhile. He was back on business when
Ault Ferguson ambushed and shot him all to pieces on the mountain near Hog
Creek, on his way back. Then he came back and lived in a cave or a dug-out
with two or three of the Terrell boys. He could not understand he said why
