northwest of Hamilton located west of Hico between Hico
and Carlton. According to
the research of Dr. Donavon Duncan Tidwell, Honey Creek Baptist Church was formed in 1867 but soon closed
only to be re-organized in 1871 and has a documented history of existence
to 1940 when the church was disbanded.
Honey Creek participated in
the Leon River Baptist Association before the organization of the Bosque
River Baptist Association in 1869. Honey Creek Baptist Church was
admitted to the Bosque River Baptist Association in 1871 where it
remained until 17 August, 1886. Honey Creek Baptist Church
was twice admitted to the Hamilton County Baptist Association--first
on 9 September, 1887, when it transferred membership from the Bosque
River Baptist Association and again on 25 August, 1920.
