HOOVER KNOBS

HOOVER KNOBS are two small mountains (elevation 1510 feet) a few miles north of Pottsville and twelve miles west of Hamilton. They are so named because at this point Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fox Hoover had a confrontation with a band of Indians about 1870. Nearby cowboys rescued the Hoovers saving their lives. The Hoovers were some of the earliest settlers in this part of the county.
