LIVE OAK

LIVE OAK CHURCH

LIVE OAK got its name from the grove of live oaks where it is located according to Mr. Parrish.

On 15 September, 1856, Henry Jones Carter and his family became the first settlers on the Cow House Creek. Mr. Carter took part in many skirmishes with Indians including the thirty day fight at Dove Creek. Mr. Carter began pre-empting and purchasing land until he had accumulated 3,400 acres in Hamilton County.

USGS listed a Live Oak Church in Hamilton County.
