I enlisted in the 2nd La Regiment at Floyd La in April. My captain name was J. W. Durm. He was a Private in Jeff Davis Regiment in the Mexican War. 1(st) Leut. name Kelly, 2nd Leut G. W. ?(Dorroty), next Leut Harry Dvaughn, next Orderly Sargent Henry Shaw. We went from Floyd, Carroll Parish, "Floyd ? (Jends)" (?) First Col name DeRussy, 2nd Col. Wm. Z. Levy Horrcle/Honcle Cobbs Brigade of Bankhead M... P.... C...... (line difficult to read) Yorktown, Va. The records show that George M. Looney, not found as George Martin Looney, Private, Company K, later B, later G, 2nd Regiment Louisiana Infantry, Confederate States Army, enlisted May 11, 1861, at New Orleans, La. for one year.

He was discharged July 30, 1862, by reason of expiration of service and the Conscript Act, age 17 years, height 5 feet 8 inches, born in Lawrence County, Alabama, dark complexion, black eyes, dark hair, and by occupation a farmer.

Since the Mortuary Warrant for confederate pensioner Mr. George Martin Looney was issued to you, this is to notify you that $25.00 Confederate Pension Warrants as follows, which were issued to him, have never been presented to this department for payment:

Funds are now available ....(omitted). Provided they are endorsed by the Administrator of the Estate or by all the heirs, in case there is no administrator. ....(omitted).... PaPa made a will M March 12 1933 to my Brother Joe B. Looney and me E. .W. Looney and one Dollar each to others Heirs and tha hase (house) paid of (off?) (?) Will it makes meanson that if Should die before the other the Deaseze potion goe to the other our administrator is ded Dr. Charley E Chanler he died Some time Back if you can help Brother Joe and me to get a Duplicate We Would be verry thankfull to you

( This letter is requesting duplicate Warrants be issued for two which were lost or destroyed. The warrants were $25.00 pension payments. The letter mentioned above from Charley Lockhart was sent by the State Treasurer, Charley Lockhart, informing E. W. how to apply for duplicate warrants.)

The comptroller replied to this letter telling E. W. Looney there were two bonds enclosed and how to use them to apply for duplicate warrants for Confederate pension warrants which were lost.
