CENTRAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH

_____

In every community there are a few people who leave an uplifting influence that is permanent and people of later generations call to mind their habits and manner of thinking as a chart of action. Of this class of men were Bill and Sumner Sparkman and C. M. And Nelson Boynton who were the leading spirits in organizing the Christian or Church of Christ.

The first church building of this religious body was located on the hill just east of the school buildings, and it is now used as a home for the school janitor. Although church services were not held regularly the members met every Sunday morning for Sunday School and Communion services. A few years later the church moved to a building on the east side of town where they worshiped for some time. A difference of doctrinal points led to a division in the church and part of the membership withdrew and built a church on the north side of town which is known as the Central Christian Church.

All departments of the church are well organized under the leadership of Brother Walker as he is affectionately spoken of by his members. This young minister, who preaches at the Central Christian Church twice a month, is still a student of the Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and is one of the coming young ministers of the times.

The influence of the men and women who founded this church still radiate a kindly spirit that is recognized among its members as friendliness and good will. The extend a cordial hospitality to all who choose to worship with them.
