_____
Harold H. Stroud located in Hamilton in June, 1933,
because he was looking for a good town in which to establish himself and
his family.
Mr. Stroud was born in Richburg, South Carolina. He came
to Texas in 1904 with his parents who settled in Bardwell, which is in
Ellis county. Finishing the public schools there he attended Meridian
College and Trinity University at Waxahachie. The World War interrupted
his education as it did so many of the youth of 1918. Too restless to
continue his schooling he became bookkeeper for the Elko Creamery in
Waxahachie. After a year’s employment He became connected with his uncle
in the Ford agency with which he was associated for nine years. In 1927 he
moved to Hico and then to Stephenville where he was engaged in farming,
ranching, and insurance.
In 1920 Harold Stroud was married to Miss Rosa Petty of
Hico, daughter of the late John E. Petty who was a pioneer merchant of
Fairy and Hico for nearly fifty years. Mr. and Mrs. Stroud met in
Waxahachie while they were both attending Trinity University. They have
one young son, Harold, Jr.
In the one year that Mr. Stroud has had the Strand
Theatre he has installed new wide range sound equipment, a modern sound
screen, speakers, and modern washed-air-cooling system. By such
improvements it is evident that Mr. Stroud is endeavoring to give the best
possible entertainment for his audience, and has faith in Hamilton. The
Historical and Trade Expansion Edition of the News welcomes such energetic
new comers to Hamilton and invite all of its readers to take that Mr.
Stroud has scheduled for the coming months.
