J. A. EIDSON --1897
[JAMES
ALLEN EIDSON]
Born in South Carolina, J. A. Eidson came to Hamilton
about 1875, according to the 1897 paper. He practiced law here, and
to quote from the 1897 paper:
"His careful preparation of cases and the unerring
accuracy of his judgment soon convinced those who observed his advancement
that he was a lawyer of no ordinary ability. Year by year his
reputation as a profound lawyer has increased until the fact that he has
been retained in any given case raised a presumption that his client will
be successful in the suit. Mr. Eidson has never been an aspirant for
any office, preferring to practice his profession and attend to is large
and growing legal business and his landed interests, which are
extensive. He has been repeatedly urged to accept the nomination for
the office of the district judge by the democracy on his county, with all
probability of being elected, but he has steadily declined."
Mrs. J. A. Eidson is now (1938) living in Hamilton, as
are daughter, Miss [Eudora] Mabel, and sons,
A. R. [Arthur R., John R. [Russell],
and J. A. Another son, [Barnwell] Rhett
lives near Hamilton.
