PROF.  J. A.  KOOKEN  --1897

In 1897 J. A. Kooken was co-principal of Hamilton High School with Professor McCollum. He was born at Ferris, Texas, in 1864, and received his early education at Trinity University. Leaving that institution in 1884, he entered the Sam Houston Normal School at Huntsville. He afterwards completed his education at Valparaiso, Indiana.

Professor Kooken was a brother of Dr. R. A. Kooken, and an uncle of the present Dr. R. A. Kooken of Hamilton.
