BAALAM, THE WHITE BURRO WAS DEPENDABLE SERVANT

How many remember Baalam, white burrow which belonged to Jack Collier, pioneer cobbler in Hamilton many years ago? Uncle Jack was a cripple and trained Baalam to pull him on a sled. Baalam would pull him to his shop, where he would get out and send the burrow back home. In the evening members of the family would hitch Baalam to the sled and send him, alone to the shop after Uncle Jack.

Uncle Jack, a notable character in Hamilton was a brother of W. B. West, blacksmith, whose picture appears in front of his shop elsewhere in this paper. He was LaGree West’s grandfather.
