ELEPHANTS GRAZED ALONG LEON RIVER

The old Glasscock circus wintered several years at Hamilton, and elephants nonchalantly grazed on their farm down on the Leon River. The show would give its opening performance here, and would travel hub to hub with Old Lady Mollie Bailey’s circus, which came here one a year.

Mrs. Bailey took up the tickets and was well known to the people. Her side show carried the first movie shown in Hamilton, the famous "Train Robbery," the first continuous screen show ever made.

To see a real railroad circus in those days you had to go to Hico.
