NINA'S BEAUTY SHOP
Nina is seated in the dryer chair on the
left side of the picture. Behind the beautician on the right
side of the picture is a hot-wave (electric) permanent machine.
After hair was rolled onto the dangling curlers, electrical heat was
applied to curl the hair. Hot wave permanents usually left the hair
burned and frizzy.
Nina Bell (McCleskey) Jones was born May
6, 1901, and died September 4, 1980. She was a daughter of
Thomas Lafayette "Tom" McCleskey and Rosa Alice Hunt. Nina
married Ace Jones, who died in 1972. Nina and Ace were buried in the New
IOOF Cemetery in Hamiilton.
